Learn to Skate:

Join us at the Northford Ice Pavilion for group or individual skating lessons.  Our programs conform with the United Figure Skating Association (U.S.F.S.A.) "Basic Skills Program."  Our programs are tailored to serve the needs of both the recreational and the competitive skater (for both hockey and figure skating).  All registered members will receive an official Basic Skills Membership Card, Record Book with stickers, an official Basic Skills member patch, and a U.S.F.S.A. Certificate for each level passed.

Program Name: Description:
Snowplow Sam for Tots
(Levels 1-3)
This program is open to toddlers from ages 3-5.  Level 1 is for those children who have never skated before.  Level 2 and 3 are for children with some experience.  Each child will be placed in the appropriate level after his or her skills are evaluated by one of our instructors.  Go to toddler class schedule.
Basic Skills
(Levels 1-8)
There are 8 levels in this program, and each person will be placed in the appropriate level after his or her skills are evaluated by one of our instructors.
Freeskate
(Levels 1-6)
This program is for skaters who have passed Level 8 of the Basic Skills Program.  Skaters in the Freeskate Program will learn at a higher level.  Jumps and spins are introduced in the Freeskate Program.
Hockey
(Girls/Boys)
Skaters who have successfully completed Level 1 of Basic Skills have the option of entering the Hockey Program and pursuing the U.S.F.S.A. hockey badge.
Adult Classes Special adult "learn to skate" classes will be offered on Saturdays.  These classes will include instruction for adults who have never skated before and for adults who would like to improve their skills at every level.
Private Lessons Private or semi-private instruction is also available for an additional fee.  Contact the ice rink for more information on private lessons.

Bring your hats and mittens for warmth -- and helmets, especially for any little ones in your group, for safety.  We recommend that you dress in layers but not in snowsuits as these restrict mobility and can be slippery when they make contact with the ice.  Whatever your age, come join us for an hour of fun!  You'll meet some great people, get some healthy exercise, and learn how to improve your skating skills no matter what your ability level.

We look forward to seeing you at the Northford Ice Pavilion!
