Learn To Skate USA COVID 19 Update

March 16, 2020

Dear Learn to Skate USA Directors and Instructors,

As the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic affects our everyday lives, Learn to Skate USA wants to assure you that the health and well-being of our athletes, members and figure skating community continues to be paramount.

Learn to Skate USA will be following U.S. Figure Skating’s actions as it applies to coronavirus (COVID-19) and strongly recommends that all Learn to Skate USA events and activities are canceled or postponed through mid-April. U.S. Figure Skating and Learn to Skate USA will continue to evaluate this rapidly evolving situation and provide updates as warranted.

While we understand how these disruptions affect our skating community, the health and well-being of our figure skating community is the highest priority. With that in mind, please review these CDC recommendations to minimize the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19):

  • Stay home if you are sick; do not come to the ice rink and club.
  • Avoid getting closer than 6 feet to anyone coughing or sneezing.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds (sing the “ABC song”) or use hand sanitizer that has at least 65% alcohol.
    • This is especially important after going to the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Cover your mouth with a tissue or inside your elbow if you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash, and then wash your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces regularly.
  • Monitor the WHO and CDC websites for travel advisories and follow their recommendations.
